The commission of the New Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham is the most significant investment in Birmingham for decades and the first hospital to be built for 70 years. Taking 4 years and £545million to build it was essential that the “ipod” style cladded building looked immaculate on handover to the NHS Trust.
Ecologic proposed a cleaning regime tailor-made to the unique structure, ensuring a gleaming finish by using methods that would not affect the life expectancy of the cladding panels.
Over a period of 6 months Ecologic cleaned 64000m2 of surface area using a combination of PH neutral biodegradable product and low pressure heated jet washing equipment.
Working on the imposing 48m high structure, its fully trained and certificated operators used many forms of access including BMU’s, MEWP’s, Scissor Lift’s and scaffold towers.
