Oak Beam Cleaning - Icomb Grange Before
As part of the conversion of a barn-style stone building into a pool room, the owner commissioned £70,000 of new oak beams for the roof. The oak beams needed to be cleaned to give an even finish.
Initially a grit-blasting company was contracted to clean the oak beams – but this produced disastrous results. The grit-blasting turned the oak beams black and ripped a hole in the roof of the building. The oak beams needed to be properly treated to restore them to their original colour, but the owner was understandably nervous about carrying out further treatment on the damaged wood.

Having suggested a non-abrasive mineral compound to rectify the damage, EcoLogic carried out a small test patch, free-of-charge. The owner was delighted with the results and commissioned EcoLogic to remove all traces of black staining from the beams and complete the oak beam cleaning. This of course resulted in the even finish originally intended.
