The Enfolding Before
The Enfolding’, created in 1986 by art student Jean Parker, depicts two figures moulded together in an embrace.
Situated in Coventry’s Peace Garden, in the middle of a very busy town square next to the Belgrade Theatre, the sculpture had suffered a significant build-up of dirt and carbon deposits from traffic and other city grime. There was also biological growth of moss, lichen and ivy, as well as green staining from the attached bronze plaque.
Carved out of porous Bath stone, it was vital that a gentle cleaning process was used to ensure no damage or weakening of the structure, particularly because there had been a previous cement repair of a crack.

The Enfolding After
EcoLogic used a non-abrasive system that thoroughly cleaned the stone sculpture and its brass plaque with extreme care. The cleaning compound used was also eco-friendly to avoid any long-term damage to surrounding foliage.
