Removing Paint from Wood – Oak Beams

Removing Paint from Wood

Removing Paint from Wood - Oak Beams Before

The oak beams on the top floor of an 18th century building in the centre of Warwick had been painted with white gloss in the 70s, with a number of additional coats of paint added over the years.

As part of a project to completely renovate the building, combining modern fittings with its original features, the architect commissioned EcoLogic to remove all traces of the paint from the wood coating and bring the wooden beams back to their original rustic golden colour.

After applying a natural, paint softening solution, EcoLogic utilised a cleaning system to remove the gloss paint from the wood, that successfully revealed the grain of the wood. Immediate success meant that we did not require water, as this can cause permanent damp staining on the beams.
